Lessons Through the Crucible of Economic Development

Adrian Cannady joined the Temple Economic Development Corporation team as President & CEO in September of 2018. Previously, Adrian served as Vice President of
Marketing of the Victoria Economic Development Corporation for more than 15 years, where he was engaged in business retention and recruitment efforts.
Adrian attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. where he studied Civil Engineering and Political Science. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Science, and a Master of Science degree in Economic Development and Entrepreneurship from the University of Houston-Victoria. He is also a graduate of the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute.
Adrian has been recognized by Consultant Connect as one of North America’s top 50 economic developers. He is a member of the International Economic Development Council as well as the Texas Economic Development Council where he serves as Vice Chairman of the board of directors. Adrian has been a past appointee on Governor Greg Abbott’s Economic Incentives Oversight Board and is currently appointed to the Governor’s Texas Economic Development Corporation board where he serves as board Treasurer. He also currently serves on Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s Hospital Advisory Board. He enjoys the practice of economic development as well as the encouragement of its practice and does so, in part, through his service as an instructor at Texas A&M University’s Basic Economic Development Course.
While at West Point, Adrian played college football for the Army Black Knights where his great passion for the Army Team was kindled and still exists today. He is active in the community through coaching youth sports and supporting the work of the church he attends. Adrian is married to Melissa and they have three boys: Dylan (21), Tristan (14), and Cortland (11).
