George Gamez
Victoria Fire Chief

George Gamez served just over 30 years with Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR), with 16 years in the field and 14 years as part of the leadership team in diverse administration roles. Throughout his career
in the field, he held several ranks including Driver, Lieutenant, and Captain, during which he spent 12 years riding the ambulance and was assigned to stations in South Dallas, an area known for
having the highest number of fires and medical emergencies. Chief Gamez promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief in 2012.
As Deputy Chief, he managed three Divisions: EMS, Communications, and 911 Dispatch Center, and Special Operations, which consisted of Aircraft Rescue, Urban Search and Rescue, Swift
Water Rescue, HazMat, and Wildland.

Chief Gamez holds an associate degree in Fire Administration from Weatherford College and a bachelor's degree in Fire Administration and Emergency Management from Texas A&M San
Antonio. He is a graduate of the Texas Fire Chiefs Academy and recently completed The Fire Service Chief Executive Officer Program at the Mays Business School at Texas A&M. Born and
raised in Dallas, Texas, he comes from a family of six firefighters, including his two sons, who have also followed in his footsteps as firefighters for Dallas Fire-Rescue and Midlothian Fire
Department.

He will discuss his career, his job before joining the fire department (Burn Tech at Parkland Hospital), his experience with Dallas Fire-Rescue (911 and his experience in New York and Ebola), and how he became the Fire Chief for the Victoria Fire Department. He will also discuss the great things the Victoria Fire Department is doing and what they are working on for the future.
