Sporting Clay Shoot sponsorship revenues set new high
Sponsorship revenues passed the $18,000 mark in March. Last year sponsors donated a record $17,500 to the clay shoot. So, this year’s are an new all-time record for sponsorship donations.
Sponsorships are only about half our revenues.
The charity auction is the next biggest revenue center. Last year it brought in
close to $10,000. The raffle brings in another four to five thousand dollars.
Practice rounds, extra meal tickets, shooting games, and individual registrants
tend to match the raffle.
Club members will find raffle tickets in their April bill. The Club Board
approved giving each member a book tickets and charging $20. There are three
options: 1. Donate the money, 2. Buy the tickets and participate in the drawing,
and 3. Sell the tickets for $5 each and make a commission of $5. Note, none of
the options includes returning the tickets.
Now is the time to make yourself available for this very special event as a volunteer, for whether it be monetary donation, auction item or your precious time, your gracious help is greatly appreciated. The Shoot is less than two weeks away. From the last Clay Shoot Coordination Meeting it appears we are ready with equipment and supplies. Now, all we need are the people.
Our 2005 goal is to exceed last year’s donations to our local area youth programs that are dear to all of our hearts. Last year we cleared a little over $36,000 to split with our partner, Boys & Girls Club of Victoria.
Fifty-seven sponsors have
signed through the end of March. Sixteen corporate sponsors have stepped forward
along with twenty station sponsors. Another nine elected youth sponsorships
followed by ten auction sponsors. Two food sponsors round out the field.
The corporate sponsors are: AEP-American Electric Power, Alexander & Marek,

Victoria National Bank, Jack Whitmire, Palm Harbor Homes, Pryor Sales & Service,

Insurance, KAVU TV, Lauger Companies, Pat Pachta—State Farm, Peggy Cunningham,

Joe writes. . . . I've been feeling a
little blue of late. Here it is 3/4 of my year is over and I was thinking that I
had not accomplished anything during my tenure as your president. That is until
I started to fill out the "President Citation" certification form.
I started to list the activities that we have been involved in this year and the list kept growing and growing. We as a club have reached out a helping hand to our local community, our district, our state and our world in so many ways it was almost impossible to count. Where there was a need we as Rotarian were there. My heart swelled to a point of bursting with the pride that I have in each and every one of you.
You have all helped the causes of Rotary in your
own way. I thank you for trusting me with honor of serving as your president and
look forward to many more productive years of service to Rotary.
Yours in Rotary,
Joe Truman

Club Centennial Project dedicated in
February
Terry Robinson
The Rotary Clubs of Victoria dedicated their Centennial Project, a playground
system serving over thirty families at the Anna Blackley Apartments, on February
19, 2005. Rotarians from all three Victoria clubs were present along with
children from the Anna Blackley Apartment complex. The dedication was performed
by Judge Don Pozzi with both the Victoria Advocate and KAVU Television coverage.
The project was completed by over 40 Rotarians in the heat of August of 2004.
Finishing touches were completed by an additional 15 Rotarians in January 2005.
The project will be presented to the full district during the District
Conference this year. A special thank you to all who dedicated their time and
energy to completing this project. I hope to see all of you for the bicentennial
project in 2105. A sign up sheet will be passed around soon…make plans on being
there! ▲
